Dear Member:

LIDLA has been a vital association for Dental Laboratories on Long Island since 1952. For over a half century, the thrust of LIDLA has always been to foster education and a spirit of camaraderie among its members.

Like most associations, during this half century, LIDLA has seen many changes, some very good, some not so good.

As we move into the fast-changing 21st. Century, all of us have been struggling to find the time to meet the everyday commitments that are necessary for the survival of our businesses. As your president, as well as a Dental Laboratory Owner, I am very well aware of the time constraints that we all face on a daily basis.

During my Presidency of LIDLA for the past year and a half, I have endeavored to offer opportunities for educational growth and knowledge through clinics featuring; Innovative new products; The cutting edge of dental technology; Emerging technological advances in prosthetics, crown and bridge; Computerized billing, and Management for Profit --- just to name a few.

For 2002, offerings we are preparing to present include three major clinics that are all "hands-on", pertaining to porcelain restorations, Empress® Restorations and Jeneric Pentron will give a "hands-on” dental restorations course.

Because of poor response to clinics offered in 2001, and as we have had to cancel many of the scheduled events due to lack of response from you, our members, I have been wondering what the problem is.

I need your input. I need your feelings, and I need to hear from you. I cannot in good conscience ask these generous clinicians, who go out of their way to present an outstanding educational evening, to make commitment of their time and money without the support of your attendance.

Sincerely,

Anthony Fescina, CDT
